Khajuraho Festival of Dances - The small village of Khajuraho situated in the northernmost part of Madhya Pradesh, lies 395 Km southeast of Agra. The temples were built during the Chandela Dynasty between 250 and 1050 AD. Khajuraho strike a perfect balance between architecture and sculpture. Khajuraho Temples are very famous among tourist coming to India on cultural Tours. In the month of February - March, Khajuraho Dance Festival is organized by the Kala Parishad under the Madhya Pradesh government. Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculpture. The aim of organizing this event is to promote cultural heritage and traditional dances of India.

The dances are performed in an open-air auditorium, usually in front of the Chitragupta Temple dedicated to Surya and the Vishwanatha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, belonging to the western group.
